Our Approach
Unravelling the mysteries of learning
At Unravelled, we view each child as a whole being - with interconnected mind, body and spirit – not just a brain to be filled with information.
We know that for a child to learn effectively, they need to be physically, mentally and emotionally ready to do so. And they need to be taught in ways that are engaging, relevant and appropriate for their unique learning styles and needs.
Our founder, Sian Goodspeed, has worked in education for almost thirty years and her holistic, balanced approach combines traditional teaching methods with learning psychology that incorporate the four key elements of effective learning: skills, knowledge, mindset and wellbeing.
Our proven, research-based methods have helped thousands of children to achieve their academic goals.

The four elements of effective learning
-
Whenever we learn, we are acquiring knowledge in some way. How effectively we acquire that knowledge will depend on a whole host of different factors.
-
Much of what we learn involves some degree of skills development and application. But we don’t all learn new skills in the same way.
-
To learn effectively, we need to be in the right mindset. This isn’t always easy - but there are some simple techniques that can help.
-
Wellbeing is the foundation upon which the other three elements rest. If we are not physically and emotionally well, it is not possible to learn as effectively.
Why do all four elements matter?
It makes sense that, to function at their best in any learning situation, children need to be feeling well (physically and emotionally) and in a positive frame of mind.
And yet, the two key elements of Mindset and Wellbeing are so often overlooked when it comes to educating our children.
We wouldn't expect an athlete to win a race if they weren't feeling well or in a positive mindset...So how can we expect our children to achieve academically if they're stressed, lacking in confidence or disengaged with learning?
In fact, there is plenty of research that demonstrates how mindset really is the key to success in so many walks of life.
